Richard Wellborn Roether

Dick Roether died of natural causes in his home in
Pasadena on January 20th. Dick was a kind, intelligent,
thoughtful man. He supported efforts and causes that
promoted responsibility and service to others as well as
historical preservation. Born and raised in Pasadena, Dick
attended public schools in Pasadena, Pasadena Junior
College, University of Southern California, and
Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Between college
experiences, Dick served as a Lieutenant Commander in the
Navy. He worked as a civil engineer in the LA City Planning
Department for many years, eventually sharing his skills with
other community and governmental agencies until his
retirement. Dick was a life-long member of the First United
Methodist Church of Pasadena and was active in
innumerable charities and service organizations. He was
preceded in death by his patents, Harry and Maida Roether,
and his aunt, Ms. Mildred Wellborn; all residents ol
Pasadena. Rose Hills Memorial Park is handling burial
