On December 12th, the college will welcome two new members of the Board of Trustees. I thought you
might like to know a little about them.
GEFFREY BAUM
Represents Area 1: La Canada Flintridge and the western edge of Pasadena
Geoff was born in Long Beach, California and now lives in Pasadena with his wife, Lisa Gallaway, who
works at Cal State Fullerton. He received his B.A in Economics and Literature from Claremont McKenna
College and his M.A. in Journalism from the University of Southern California. He is currently the Director
of Public Affairs at the Annenberg School for Communication at USC. Geoff has been an Executive
Producer for C-SPAN, and a Senior Editor for Marketplace, a program now carried daily on KPCC. He
also served as an Assistant Vice President at Claremont McKenna College.
Geoff is a board member of the Pasadena Community Access Corporation, the Armory Center for the
Arts, and the West Pasadena Residents' Association. He also serves on the Pasadena City Hall
Restoration Committee and has been an advisor to the college Board of Trustees regarding KPCC.
CONSUELO REY-CASTRO
Represents Area 3: Altadena and northwest Pasadena
Connie is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at East Los Angeles College where she is currently
serving as the chairperson of the Social Science Department. A graduate of the community college
system - with an A.A. from Santa Barbara City College - she is now in the doctoral program at the USC
School of Education. Connie currently holds a B.A and an M.A. in Public Administration from Loyola
Man/mount University. She is also president of the Faculty Guild, and a member of the Academic Senate
at East Los Angeles College. Connie has recently served as the Chief Negotiator for the AFT Faculty
Guild in negotiations with the Los Angeles Community College District.
A resident of Pasadena, Connie has been involved with a wide range of community organizations
including the Pasadena Scholarship Organization, the Northwest Service Area Advisory Board, the
Sequoyah School of Pasadena, and the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the Labor Council for Latin
American Advancement.
