Shatford Library wins award
The Shatford Library has been selected as a winner in the 1995 John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations
Awards Contest The Library will receive a Special Award for "an exceptional library public relations effort for
an outstanding event." In this case the "event" was the promotion of all of the elements that helped celebrate
the opening and first year in the life of the new library.
The John Cotton Dana award is the most prestigious award given in this country for promoting libraries to
their constituencies. The award will be presented at the American Library Association's national conference in
Chicago in June. The ALA jointly sponsors this annual competition with the H.W. Wilson Company.
This is an international contest and this award has been presented continuously since 1946. Over 77 libraries and library systems submitted entries this year. Mary Ann Laun, Chris Rose and Oscar Chavez worked
diligently to put PCC's application book together.
